SectionActivities
General Administration
Coordinates the activities of the Ministry by providing support to the Honourable Commissioner, Permanent Secretary & other Directors.
Performs administrative and advisory functions.
Attends to all correspondences from MDAs, 33 Local Education Offices, 10 Zonal Education Offices, and Ministry of Education controlled Schools including Schools of Science.
Writes submissions and memoranda to seek approval.
Writes minutes of meetings and reports.
Writes speeches/goodwill messages/addresses to be delivered at various functions for the Honourable Commissioner.
Collates data from field Officers and makes necessary documents available to Directors.
Coordinates the weekly environmental sanitation exercise in the Ministry.
Organizes capacity-building programmes for staff of the Ministry within and outside the State.
Conducts promotion exercises for Officers of the Ministry that are due from time to time.
Conducts disciplinary procedures on erring Officers of the Ministry in accordance with the Public Service Rules.
Prepares Annual Personnel Estimates of the Ministry.
Performs oversight functions related to State-owned Tertiary Institutions and other Personnel duties.
Attends to issues of Corp members with respect to deployment, monitoring, and NYSC-related matters.
Proposes posting of all members of staff for approval by the Permanent Secretary and the Honourable Commissioner.
Procurement & Supplies
Undertakes the purchase/procurement of items for the use of the Ministry.
Open Registry
Opening of records/files for newly recruited or transferred officers in the Ministry.
Keeping of officers' personal files and policy files of the Ministry.
Maintenance of Registers showing the staff list and their Personal file (PF) numbers, as well as movement of files.
Processing of leave requests and other submissions by Officers of the Ministry.
Keeping of morning lists to show files receiving attention at various desks in the Ministry.
Confidential Registry
Opening of Confidential files for Officers of the Ministry.
Compilation of list of Officers due for promotion.
Declaration of vacancies available in each cadre/grade level.
Preparation of reports on personnel distribution of the Ministry and submission to the Bureau of Statistics, Ibadan.
Records
Keeping records of retirement, death, leave, etc. of Officers of the Ministry.
Processing of retirement benefits of retired Officers.
Processing of inter-cadre transfer of Officers.
Declaration of vacancies to the Civil Service Commission for recruitment of new Officers and transfer of serving Officers.
Store
Taking stock of goods from Contractors.
Maintenance of the Stores.
Disbursement of the items kept in the store when needed.
Maintenance
In charge of general refurbishing/upgrading of Offices.
Sanitation/Clearing of bushes around the Ministry’s environment.
Transport
Maintenance and servicing of Official Research of the Ministry.
Conveys Officials of the Ministry to Official functions and routine monitoring/inspection of Schools in the State.
Security
Oversees security of Government properties both at day and night.
